Eurowings
Eurowings is a German mid-size carrier serving the EU and the Middle East (Georgia, Armenia, Turkey). The company is affiliated with Lufthansa, thanks to which it has access to a joint loyalty program. Like other European air holdings, the carrier’s fleet consists mainly of Airbus aircraft. The company’s main hub is Düsseldorf.

History of Eurowings
It was formed on February 1, 1990, shortly before the merger of the FRG and GDR. Initially, the company was positioned as a low-cost domestic German airline, but after 2001, Eurowings began operating throughout the EU and neighboring countries. Now the carrier is positioned as a “business class low-cost carrier”.
The firm is closely affiliated with the airline giant Lufthansa: the companies have a common loyalty program, a common maintenance network and one pilot academy. Since 2022, Eurowings has stopped operating flights to Russia, but instead the air operator has focused on flights to the Transcaucasian countries.
Eurowings fleet
Like other European carriers, the fleet is based on French-Dutch Airbus aircraft. Unlike other companies, the German low-cost carrier “retains” the airplanes of its parent company, Lufthansa. In 2024, the first major purchase of new ships in the last 10 years is planned.

Eurowings loyalty programs
There is a shared loyalty program with Lufthansa called Miles&More. Registration is free of charge for all customers. There are 4 levels of privileges: silver, gold, platinum and premium. Depending on the level, 4, 5, 6 or 7 bonus points are awarded for each euro spent on tickets and services. Bonuses are also awarded for using the services of Eurowings partners.
Accumulated points can be spent on upgrades, paying up to 100% of the ticket price, ordering additional meals and access to the business lounge. In the EU countries, they can be used to rent hotels and transportation from Eurowings partner services. The bonuses are available both at Eurowings and Lufthansa.
Baggage allowance
Free baggage allowance is limited to 32 kg in the baggage compartment. If the weight limit is exceeded, the passenger will have to pay for an additional seat at a tariff from 70 euros. Bulky cargo and pets are allowed to fly only if they are pre-registered at the ticket purchase stage.

You can check-in for your flight on the eurowings.com website, in the mobile application or at the check-in desk at the airport of departure. The procedure requires a passport, reservation code (issued to the tourist when purchasing the ticket) and a ticket.
