The German carrier has strict rules for certain cargo. It is forbidden to take in your luggage:

  • any type of weapon, except collector’s knives and sporting rifles. Air rifles must be unloaded and compressed gas cylinders removed. Knives shall be placed in scabbards;
  • moulages of weapons and their components, as well as ammunition. Firecrackers and any other pyrotechnics and powders/their components are not allowed;
  • fuel, fuels and lubricants in any form. Cargoes containing fuel (e.g. mowers and agricultural tools) are placed in the baggage only when the tank is empty;
  • radioactive, biologically and chemically active substances, corrosive liquids and strong oxidizers/alkalisers, even if packed in airtight tight containers. Mercury and mercury thermometers are not allowed, even in cases;
  • lithium-ion batteries removed from devices. It is not allowed to carry cases with alarms and smart cases with batteries with a power of more than 180 watts. Electric vehicles (e.g. electric scooters or gyroboards) are not allowed in your luggage;
  • alcohol and goods that spoil quickly (e.g. ready-to-eat food). The total volume of liquids that can be packed in luggage is 5 liters;
  • The company reserves the right to detain suitcases containing suspicious substances (e.g. unlabeled flour).

Sports equipment is allowed for transportation at an additional cost (from 70 euros per set). The equipment is packed in a separate container that retains its shape. Bicycles are folded in half, wheels are removed and tires are deflated.

Bulky goods (e.g. surfboards or furniture) are charged at a separate rate. Such goods must be packed in cardboard packaging with a label indicating the owner of the shipment and the contents of the box.

Hand luggage regulations

The maximum dimensions of hand baggage are 115 cm in the sum of three measurements. Exceptions are cribs for children under 2 years old and walking equipment. Persons with disabilities may carry a folding stroller in the cabin provided it is placed on the top shelf above the seats.

Not included in hand luggage:

  • Canes and walking aids, umbrellas and rain gear;
  • Outer clothes (for flights in the fall-winter period);
  • Laptop, tablet, e-book;
  • Goods from duty-free stores;
  • Baby food kit or first aid kit for sick passengers.

A maximum of 1 liter of liquid is allowed, provided that it is bottled in containers of 100 ml or less. Alcohol is not allowed on board the aircraft.

It is prohibited to transport any cutting and stabbing devices in the cabin, as well as tools that can be used as cold weapons (hammers, screwdrivers). Exceptions are syringes and blood collection strips for diabetic patients.

During the flight, all hand baggage, except for electronic devices, must be stowed under the seat or on the shelf above the passengers’ seats.

Animal transportation rules

Pets weighing up to 32 kg are allowed on Eurowings. Pets weighing between 7 and 32 kg are transported in the baggage compartment, lighter pets are allowed in the cabin. Animals must not be taken without a carrier and must not be allowed to walk freely on the airplane during the flight.

The following requirements apply to the carrier:

  • made of hypoallergenic material that does not heat up;
  • well ventilated. It is allowed to cover the cage with small birds with a light fabric that does not obstruct ventilation;
  • equipped with a metal door with a lock. The lock and hinges should be made so that the animal in flight could not tear them off;
  • the bottom is covered with filler or fabric that absorbs moisture well;
  • a handle is built into the upper part. A bowl of water and food should be placed inside the carrier;
  • the dimensions of the cage should be such that the animal can freely stand up and turn around during the flight.

Service dogs and guide dogs may be carried outside the carrier, but wearing a collar and muzzle. During the flight, the dog is on the passenger’s lap or next to him/her (if the seat is located at the row and not at the window).
